- The bespoke “Tutto Rosso” commission is set for its grand unveiling at the prestigious Villa d’Este.
- An incredible 95 percent of the vehicle’s visible components are finished in a striking red hue.
- The powertrain features a supercharged V8 delivering 888 hp to the rear axle via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the banks of Lake Como is renowned for showcasing the pinnacle of automotive design, yet few entries have ever embraced a singular color palette with such intensity. For the 2026 event, Capricorn has introduced its latest development milestone: the 01 Zagato “Tutto Rosso.” As the name implies, this one-off commission features a “total red” theme that covers roughly 95 percent of the supercar’s visible surfaces.
A Critical Milestone in the 01 Zagato Development Program
Beyond its eye-catching aesthetics, the Tutto Rosso serves a functional purpose as the third validation prototype (P3) in Capricorn’s rigorous testing schedule. With a production launch slated for late 2026, this car follows two previous testing mules: one finished in Knokke green with a brown leather interior, and another featuring a Giallo Sole yellow exterior contrasted by blue suede upholstery.
While the pervasive red theme might draw immediate comparisons to the icons of Maranello, Capricorn suggests a different historical inspiration. The design pays homage to the saturation-colored racing machines of the 1930s. Specifically, the company cites the 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C—a classic also sculpted by the Zagato atelier—as the primary stylistic influence for this modern interpretation.
Innovative Engineering Meets Monochromatic Design
The commitment to the color red extends far beyond a simple paint job. It encompasses the wheels, the interior, and even the structural core of the vehicle. In a display of technical prowess, Capricorn’s engineering team in Düsseldorf developed a specialized red-tinted resin for the carbon fiber weave. This allows the structural monocoque to exhibit a deep crimson glow without compromising the physical properties of the carbon tub. This same philosophy was applied to the engine compartment, though components subjected to extreme thermal stress remain finished in black to ensure long-term durability.
Inside, the “Tutto Rosso” theme continues with a cabin draped almost entirely in red Connolly leather and matching Alcantara. The monochromatic environment is broken only by essential functional elements, such as the analog gauge faces, the steering wheel trim, the foot pedals, and the polished gated manual shifter.
Analogue Performance and Ford-Derived Power
Underneath its bespoke skin, the 01 Zagato remains a purist’s supercar. It is powered by a mid-mounted 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, which utilizes a 5.0-liter Ford block as its foundation. The result is a formidable 888 hp (900 PS) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of peak torque. In an era of dual-clutch dominance, Capricorn has opted for a CIMA five-speed dogleg manual transmission, sending all power exclusively to the rear wheels.
Thanks to a lightweight construction that keeps the dry weight under 1,200 kg (2,646 lbs), the performance figures are world-class. The 01 Zagato is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than three seconds, eventually reaching a top speed of 360 km/h (224 mph).
Exclusivity and Production Timeline
Following its public debut on May 16 at Villa d’Este, the Tutto Rosso will return to the track to finalize calibration settings. The insights gained from this third prototype will be integrated into the final production units. Capricorn has strictly limited production to just 19 vehicles—a number chosen to honor Zagato’s founding year of 1919.
With a starting price of €2.95 million (approximately $3.43 million) before local taxes, the Capricorn 01 Zagato is positioned at the very top of the boutique supercar market. According to the manufacturer, the majority of the 19 build slots have already been claimed, with only a few opportunities remaining for collectors to secure their own piece of this German-Italian collaboration.
The Capricorn Engineering Legacy
The Capricorn 01 Zagato “Tutto Rosso” represents a rare fusion of heritage-driven aesthetics and uncompromising modern engineering. By combining a high-output supercharged V8 with a traditional gated manual and a lightweight carbon chassis, Capricorn and Zagato have created a machine that prioritizes sensory engagement over digital interference, marking a significant entry into the world of ultra-exclusive hyper-coachbuilding.
