Volvo’s EX60 Arrives Stateside with a Bold Price Advantage Over the BMW iX3

    Volvo’s EX60

Volvo’s latest entry into the electric crossover market, the 2027 EX60, has officially made its North American debut in New York City. Positioned as a versatile mid-size option, this new EV is now available for order with a starting price of $58,400. This aggressive pricing strategy places the EX60 nearly $20,000 below its larger sibling, the EX90, and gives it a $3,100 price advantage over the BMW iX3.

    • The 2027 Volvo EX60 enters the market with a base MSRP of $58,400.
    • Standard models deliver 369 horsepower and a driving range of 307 miles.
    • A future high-performance variant will offer 670 horsepower and a 400-mile range.

The lineup begins with the EX60 P6 Plus, which emphasizes a clean, Scandinavian aesthetic and a tech-forward cabin. Inside, drivers are greeted by an 11.4-inch digital gauge cluster and a 15-inch central infotainment display. This system is powered by Google built-in and features Gemini AI integration. Standard equipment is generous, including a 21-speaker Bose premium sound system, Volvo’s Pilot Assist semi-autonomous driving tech, and the Safe Space technology suite.

For those seeking more luxury, the EX60 P6 Ultra starts at $65,000. This trim level elevates the interior with ventilated Nappa leather, heated rear seats with integrated boosters for children, and an electrochromic panoramic glass roof. Audiophiles will appreciate the upgrade to a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio system.

Performance Specifications and Rapid Charging Capabilities

The P6 Plus and Ultra models utilize a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 369 hp (275 kW) and 354 lb-ft of torque. This setup allows the crossover to sprint from 0-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 112 mph. These models are equipped with an 83 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of 307 miles.

One of the EX60’s standout technical features is its 800V electrical architecture. This allows for DC fast-charging speeds of up to 320 kW, meaning P6 owners can add 155 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A 10% to 80% charge can be completed in approximately 16 minutes. Additionally, the EX60 comes equipped with a native North American Charging Standard (NACS) port, ensuring seamless access to the Tesla Supercharger network.

Stepping up to the EX60 P10 AWD Plus and Ultra variants brings dual-motor performance for $60,750 and $67,350, respectively. The all-wheel-drive system boosts output to 503 hp (375 kW) and 524 lb-ft of torque, dropping the 0-60 mph time to 4.4 seconds.

The P10 also receives a larger 95 kWh battery, which extends the total range to 322 miles. Charging efficiency is further improved with a 370 kW DC fast-charging capacity, capable of adding 165 miles in 10 minutes, while maintaining the same 16-minute window for a 10-80% charge.

Later in the production cycle, Volvo will introduce the flagship EX60 P12 AWD. This powerhouse will feature a massive 117 kWh battery and a dual-motor configuration producing 670 hp (500 kW) and 583 lb-ft of torque. This top-tier model aims for a 400-mile range and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of just 3.8 seconds.

Mandatory Destination Fees and Additional Costs

Summary: The 2027 Volvo EX60 represents a significant step in the brand’s electrification strategy, offering a blend of high-end technology, rapid charging capabilities, and competitive pricing. By bridging the gap between its compact and full-size electric SUVs, Volvo has created a compelling option for luxury buyers looking for efficiency without sacrificing performance.
